2004 ART SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA
Funded by Sam Collins Day Art Invitational
$2000.00 Individual Scholarship
Applicant shall provide the following information:
1. What college he/she has been accepted into
2. Intended field of study/major
3. Essay about his/her journey as an artist, including his/her commitment to the intended field of study
4. Contact information
5. Portfolio submission for review
6. Letter of recommendation from art teacher
7. Signed Photo Release for future promotion of Art Invitational Scholarship
Applications are to be reviewed by a panel of no less than three (3) judges. This panel is to be comprised of two current members of the Sam Collins Day Art Invitational and one professional artist or graphic artist from the local community. In the event there is only one chairperson for the Art Invitational, then a second local professional artist will be invited to participate. The panel shall have two weeks to review the applications and determine the one individual the Sam Collins Day Art Invitational Scholarship will be awarded to annually.
Assessment will be as follows:
60% based on the review of the applicant's commitment to major in an art field and to continue in art education, and 40% on the quality of the portfolio work.
Applications will be made available through the art teachers and counselors of Canton High School and the Sam Collins Day Committee.
In the event that no one from Canton applies for this scholarship award in any given year, then the available money for that year will be held and combined for distribution the following year.
